I am first and foremost a Mother to two children. My own parenting interests lie in attachment parenting, and Pinterest (ha). After the birth of my second baby, in 2016, I became a ‘stay-at-home-mum’. Despite all of my previous experience and achievements, it has been both my greatest challenge and most rewarding accomplishment ever. The appreciation, understanding and empathy I now have for parents is on another level!
I began this journey of caring for Mother’s and their newborns in 2011. Following training as a Breastfeeding Peer Supporter, I volunteered in the local Maternity hospital and also at a local Sure Start Children’s Centre. I gained a Level 2 Diploma in Clinical Health Care Support at the local General hospital as an NHS Health Care Assistant, and then landed a wonderful job as an NHS Maternity Support Worker. This was based in the Community, where I carried out mother and newborn postnatal checks in families homes. I went on to achieve a Level 3 Diploma in Maternity and Paediatrics, including training in First Aid. I also hold a current enhanced DBS certificate.
Following training with Younique Postnatal and undertaking a Doula Preparation course in 2019, I became a member of Doula UK.
What I can offer you
I have a particular interest in breastfeeding support, as this was a huge requirement of my role. However, I also have experience in supporting other forms of infant feeding, and would be non-judgemental of a parents’ choices. To see examples of support I can offer, please visit my website.
