Amadoula – Claire Casey: Birth & Postnatal Doula

Hi, my name is Claire Casey and I live in Highclere, Newbury with my husband and 5 children.

Claire Casey Doula

The last 14 years of my life have revolved around pregnancy, childbirth, breastfeeding and babies. Which led me to the amazing world of becoming a Doula.

My love for pregnancy, childbirth and all things baby related stems straight from my own experiences of becoming a mother, it has been such a positive, life changing time for me.  I never really knew how much I wanted children until I had my first and I am so grateful for each and every one of them.

Support, encouragement and being informed are all key to having a birth you are happy with.  It is so easy to underestimate the benefit of having support around you at this important time in your life.  With families spread far and wide these days, having on hand support from family and/or friends might not be available.  Being able to talk openly with your friends and/or family about your wishes or worries, might not be something that comes naturally to you, might not be an option at all or maybe you just want to keep things separate.  Having a Doula can give you that person who is non-judgemental, unbiased and kind to support you in a way that will load you with self-confidence and information. Which in turn will help to lessen any anxiety or fears you may have.  It’s the best gift you could give yourself.  Bringing your baby into the world will be one of the most wonderful, life-affirming moments you will ever have. These memories will stay with you and can leave you feeling strong, empowered and believing in yourself going into motherhood.

I work with expecting mothers (and their partners), to help them tailor their birth and new baby experience to be how they want it. Knowing your options and the pros and cons that go with them, will give you the confidence to make informed decisions for yourself about what you really want and I will be there to support you through it.

We can customise your birth to include the things that matter to you. The things you are interested in and passionate about and above all else, make it a positive birth experience for you and your baby.  You should always feel safe, respected, heard and looked after when you are bringing a baby into this world and I will work with you towards the birth YOU want, where-ever your birth takes you, home, hospital, birth-centre, water, caesarean, vaginal, medicated or not. This is your experience and whatever path you choose I will endeavour to ensure the needs of both you and your partner, if you have one, are met.

Postnatally, the “babymoon” period is so significant and so short, it is such a special and important time.  I will do whatever is needed to ensure you get time in your bubble, to bond with your baby without the interference of daily chores looming over you.  I can talk through your labour with you and can discuss your feelings towards your experience.  I will help you with establishing breastfeeding or will help with whichever feeding method you have decided on.  I can look after older siblings, walk the dog, do light housework/laundry and cooking for children and/or you and your partner if required. Whatever you need during those first few weeks.
